Can I receive emergency care?
The clinic is not set up to handle emergencies. The patient must go to local hospitals for emergency care.
Do I need an appointment to be seen?
The clinic sees patients by appointment and also offers same day appointments for established patients who need to be seen right away, based on appointment availability.
Are services free?
We accept a large number of health insurance plans including Medicaid and Medicare. For comprehensive primary care, patients without insurance are asked to pay a minimum of $30 per visit, Some patients are eligible for highly discounted services based on income and family size. There are also cancer screening programs, optometry and ENT programs that are free to eligible patients.
How do I make an appointment
Please call 504-529-5558 from 8:00 am - 5:00 pm. For established patients of the clinic, every attempt is made to provide same day access appointments
St. Thomas Community Health Center accepts Medicare, Medicaid, most private insurance plans, and payment directly by the patient. New pateints are asked to bring a Louisiana ID or Drivers license, and insurance information. Patients without health insurance will be asked to pay a discounted amount with the discount based on household income.
Medical care will not be denied to anyone because of inability to pay. The Clinic staff will assist limited income patients in applying for financial assistance programs, and also in filing necessary reimbursement forms.
