    With a half-dozen places for you to get care, there’s almost always a St. Thomas in your neighborhood.

    One you might not know about: St. Thomas at L.B. Landry (1200 L.B. Landry Avenue). Like all our other clinics, it’s a full-service primary care clinic for adults and children, open from 7:30 AM – 4:30PM, Monday through Friday.

    CDC: 9% of HIV Infections Diagnosed in U.S. are from Drug Injections

    Use of syringe services programs (SSPs) has increased substantially during the past decade, but most people who inject drugs still don’t always use sterile needles, according to a new CDC Vital Signs report. Sharing needles and syringes is a direct route of transmission for HIV and hepatitis B and C viruses. Read the full story here.

    Nola.com: Oysters are good and good for you

    Oysters, a “health food”?  Nutrition isn’t generally what we think of when it comes to oysters. We’re often thinking of fried oyster po-boys, oysters Rockefeller, or chargrilled oysters swimming in pools of butter that we sop up with soft white French bread.

    The reality is that oysters are incredibly nutrient-rich, and are among the top food sources of key vitamins and minerals that help with energy, mood, immune system, and protein synthesis, as well as other health benefits.
