December, 2020 Update:
The St.Thomas Breast Center will no longer provide mammography. We began this service when Hurricane Katrina closed the large hospitals in 2005. After fifteen years of proudly supporting our community’s needs, our equipment is aging and we feel it is time to refer patients to larger, state-of-the-art imaging centers that provide mammography, breast ultrasound and breast MRI.
Our Breast Center staff will continue to work hard to help patients get appropriate breast cancer screening. The center will assist patients in getting appointments at other imaging centers for mammograms and will provide guidance if problems are discovered that need further diagnostic testing. All prior mammograms done at St.Thomas can be retrieved and sent to any imaging center the patient selects.
St. Thomas continues to receive funds from the LSU Breast and Cervical Health Program and the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation for education and navigation services. Our staff is proud to continue our 15-year tradition of aiding women in the early detection of breast cancer.
