Let’s PrEP for Health
Did you know that in Louisiana 1 in 5 people living with HIV are undiagnosed and unaware of their status?
Did you know that in the New Orleans region, 15% of people living with HIV are unaware they have been infected with the virus?
Did you know that New Orleans is ranked #6 nationally for HIV case rates?
African Americans make up 32% of the population in Louisiana, yet they disproportionately make up 70% of the newly diagnosed HIV cases in OUR state. So now, how do WE change this? We PrEP for our health!
PrEP allows those of US who are vulnerable to contracting HIV to take control of OUR sexual health. Taking PrEP once a day can decrease our vulnerability to contracting HIV by up to 99%. Remember PrEP is most impactful when paired with condoms and other preventative strategies. Contact us or your provider to discuss PrEP.
In addition to the once a day pill you’re familiar with, we are proud to offer the first and only long-acting injectable for PrEP. The intramuscular injection, branded as Apretude, is indicated for vulnerable adults and adolescents weighing at least 77 lbs. for PrEP to reduce the chance of sexually acquiring HIV-1 infection. Individuals must have a verifiable negative HIV-1 test prior to initiating Apretude.
PrEP is OUR contribution to OURselves and OUR communities for the eradication of HIV in OUR world.
