The Advocate: St. Thomas Community Health Care presents Block Party for Life in Algiers

By stthomaschc | Press | Comments are Closed | 26 July, 2017 | 0

St. Thomas Community Health Care celebrated community and health with the first Block Party for Life in Algiers on July 8. The family-friendly event featured music, food and beverage, health screenings and a second line!

Neighborhood residents and community leaders came together for the block party that Saturday morning and stayed into the afternoon. Partygoers enjoyed BBQ made by the Krewe of NOMTOC as well as fried fish plates from the Craige Cultural Center.

Neighborhood favorite DJ Gravy kicked the party off, followed by One Shot Brass Band who ended the party with a classic New Orleans brass and a second line around the block.

Notable attendees included Councilwoman Nadine Ramsey, of District C; Commander of the 4th Police District, Ceasar Ruffin; and Honorable Dale Atkins, clerk of Civil District Court for the Parish of Orleans..
