Elevating Health Through National Nutrition Month
This National Nutrition Month, we want to emphasize the importance of nutrition and the need to prioritize your primary care. 6 in 10 Americans live with at least one chronic illness, so it’s important to adopt measures to stay healthy.
This month acts as a time for individuals to reflect on their nutrition habits and make changes towards a healthier lifestyle. Our team of healthcare professionals is committed to guiding individuals toward improved health through primary care services.

Are Your Eyes Seeing Their Best?
Millions of individuals experience changes in their vision each year, yet many are unaware of the importance of regular eye examinations. Vision problems can gradually worsen without noticeable symptoms, leading to more severe issues like glaucoma and diabetic blindness if left unchecked.
At St. Thomas, we prioritize your eye health and vision accuracy. We offer comprehensive eye exams to detect and manage vision changes and eye conditions early, ensuring your eyes are at their best. Our services cater to everyone, regardless of insurance status or financial capability, because we believe in accessible, quality eye care for all.

Two Confirmed Measles Cases in the Greater New Orleans Area
The Louisiana Department of Health (LDH) has announced the confirmation of two measles cases in the Greater New Orleans area, identified in individuals who had recently traveled out of state. A thorough public health investigation is currently underway, with LDH committed to providing further updates as more information becomes available.
Measles is a highly contagious virus that manifests about seven to 14 days after exposure. Initial symptoms include high fever, cough, runny nose, and red, watery eyes, followed by the appearance of tiny white spots inside the mouth and a rash that spreads over the body. The CDC advises that anyone who believes they may have been exposed to measles should contact their healthcare provider immediately.
Do You Know About Our Sliding Scale Payments?
At St. Thomas Community Health Center, we believe that financial constraints should not prevent anyone from receiving the healthcare services they need. That’s why we offer sliding scale payments, ensuring our services are attainable to everyone, regardless of income or insurance status.
To benefit from our sliding scale payment system, patients are required to provide proof of income and complete a household assessment. Acceptable forms of proof include recent pay stubs or official benefit letters, which help accurately assess your ability o pay and adjust the cost of your care. This approach allows us to provide high-quality medical, dental, and mental health services to our community members at a fair and accessible price.
