Break the Stigma Together
July is National Minority Mental Health Awareness Month, a time to raise awareness about the unique struggles that racial and ethnic minority communities face regarding mental health in the United States. It’s estimated that only 39% of Black adults with any mental illness were treated the last year it was measured.
These disparities result from systemic racism, and additional factors such as lack of access to quality mental health care services, cultural stigma surrounding mental health care, or discrimination. Let’s use this month to spread knowledge, break the stigma, and ensure everyone has access to the mental health resources they need.
Annual Renewals Restarted
After a pause due to COVID-19, Louisiana Medicaid has restarted eligibility reviews, also known as renewals. Not everyone will renew at the same time, but it’s important to update your information and stay covered. After confirming your address, watch for a pink letter in the mail and follow the instructions to ensure you keep your coverage.
Call Medicaid Customer Service toll free at 1-888-342-6207 or go online by visiting the Medicaid Self-Service Portal to update your address.
Stay Cool, Stay Safe: Heat Safety
As we move deeper into the summer, the heat in New Orleans will become more intense than even these last few weeks. Extreme heat is characterized by long periods of high temperatures combined with high humidity, making it difficult for the body to cool down.
